This season designers offer menswear inspired coats with giant front pockets and notched lapels. Since it is only getting colder, snuggling up has never been easier.

You can wear them with pretty much anything: jeans, dresses, skirts, heels or booties. You will find them in a variety of materials too, such as wool, tweed, silk and more. They will come in candy hues, pastel colors, and dark shades to suit all individual styles. Don't worry, they will also be embellished with sleek belts and simple separates. Designers like No21, Lavin, Dsquared etc. are ones to keep an eye on for these coat trend.

It’s worth investing in an oversized coat, because they come in the perfect shape and can be paired with many different styles and looks. Practically and comfort all in one fashion-forward piece. You really cannot lose with these coats!

You can also expect to see some streamlined silhouettes, clearer lines and various lengths. Lengths will run from long to mid-thigh or below the knee.

Here is a selection of the coats for fall/winter season 2017:

Duffle Coats
This design has become slightly different, some designers have shortened the coats and others gave it an asymmetrical cut, decorated them with current prints and colors. Others come with inserted pockets. One thing that stays the same is the big wooden or horn toggle fastening with rope.

Sleeveless Coats
Sleeveless coats are a big thing this season! It might not be too practical, but they are definitely a statement piece.

Military Style Coats
Military inspired clothing lives on! Now, it can be found in the current collections of Ermanno Servino, John Galliano, Burberry, Coach, Tommy Hilfiger or Tibi.

Quilted Coats
Bulky and quilted coats are masterpieces of the oversized coat. The puff jackets immediately became trends at fashion shows. Some designs, like those from Alexander McQueen and Luisa Beccaria look more like thick blankets. However, there are some that are the opposite. Coats from Fendi, Tory Burch, Stella McCartney are more lightweight.

Decorative Elements
Alberta Ferretti, Blumarine, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs as usual are the front runners featuring a choice of ways of decorating your coats. Applied flowers, decorative seams, feathers, multi-colored embroidery, bright shades, original pockets, contrast inserts. These will make your coat stand out even more.
