The Colour Pink – It Comes in Many Shades and Many Ways

At the top of the list of the trends for summer season is pink – or so-called shocking pink, candy pink, flamingo pink, baby pink, deep cherry pink, raspberry pink… endless expressions all coming down to one tone – pink.
Flattering the runways of Valentino, Balenciaga, Gucci, Michael Kors or Céline, the former symbol of dated gender binaries is now the colour of bright and powerful statements.

The association of “girly girl” is gone – we are now able to have our pink paraphernalia moment with pink bubble gum and rose-coloured glasses.

Pink was present on the spring 2017 runways of almost every high fashion brand. From toned-down pastel sorbet shades to electrified berry tones. Pink rocked the runways at Alexander McQueen, Emilio Pucci, Prada, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu and many more. Céline showed some floating pink dresses and Michael Kors made a sophisticated trench statement. Gucci added pink details to looks by pink turbans, pink blouses or pink coloured sunglasses.

Frilly, draped, sequined, satin or tulle, or heavy frocks – pink comes in all forms and ways. Haider Ackermann, Paul Smith and Bottega Veneta made pink business and presented power suiting. Dolce & Gabbana and Lacoste offered a blush, sporty look.

And please guys, you are also allowed to wear this trend colour this summer. We know you like to combine classy suits with little coloured details, so why not making that detail pink? And let's not forget that pink is still the colour of breast cancer awareness. So you are not only wearing a trend colour, but making statement here, ladies.

It is that something about dressing up in hot pink that gives us that nostalgic fun feeling. Dive into pink with a monochrome look – it feels like Barbie. A bright and unapologetic colour. So it is not only the floral pink prints that give us a hard time deciding what pink to wear, but also the pink sneakers that we are in love with. Or that pink ruffle dress, or the pink fur loafers by Gucci.

Wear loads of pink and wear it however you want to wear it. Emphasise the tonal looks and look at our selection of street style pictures. Isn’t it just beautiful?
