In September
Versace was acquired by
Michael Kors and this is the first collection marking a new era for
Versace and
Donatella herself.
So here we are in the center of the
New York Stock Exchange.
Donatella built a replica of Lady Liberty’s torch explaining that she saw this as a symbol of
New York and empowerment and strength of women.
The
Pre-Fall 2019 show was energetic and featuring models like
Kaia Gerber and front-row guests like
Kim Kardashian or
Paris Jackson. The designs were shown on a mirrored black runway. The looks themselves showcased strong women in black, beige and burgundy colours. Animal prints appeared throughout the entire collection. Some models wore silk headscarves and large sunglasses, some puffer jackets and faux-fur coats. We also saw an
“I Love NY” shirt with a gilded Versace Medusa logo.
Amber Valletta modelled the so-called barely-there gown (which has been worn by
Jennifer Lopes in a tropical print before).
